Join Our Team!
Help students learn, grow, and experience the outdoors — and we will help you do the same!
While we look for staff with high school diplomas or degrees in related fields of study, such as biology, environmental education, or recreation, we are most excited about people who are enthusiastic about the curriculum, working with each other, and, especially, the students.
Program Goals
-
Develop awareness and appreciation for the natural environment.
-
Learn and apply scientific concepts while in an outdoor classroom.
-
Develop a sense of responsibility and cooperation through group living and learning.
-
Grow in self-awareness, self-confidence, respect, and understanding of others.
Subjects
Our outdoor education curriculum teaches students about both their local and global environment, as well as focusing on stewardship.
Our core lessons are botany, geology, and ecology, and other lessons engage students in topics including sustainability, survival, and astronomy
Activities
Staff members lead hikes, teach science, and help students build self-confidence with archery, team building, climbing, night hikes, and more!
We also have fun with dance nights, camp songs, skits, campfire stories, and games.
Travel
Our staff comes from all over the country to work and live together.
We strive to have a welcoming and healthy culture where workplace camaraderie can develop into life-long friendships.
While most staff members work at our main site in Crestline, we also operate programs at multiple partner sites, allowing them to travel and explore new places.
Travel assignments are generally 2-4 week rotations, which include housing and meals.
Things to Do
Our employees enjoy having weekends off to explore the beautiful state of California. You can spend one weekend walking across the lowest elevation point in the world at Death Valley, and the next weekend exploring the largest trees in the world at Sequoia National Park.
Our main site is Thousand Pines Camp, located in the San Bernardino National Forest, which offers stunning views and exciting trails to discover. You can easily plan a day trip to any of the beaches from San Diego to Santa Barbara. If you prefer city life, Los Angeles is just a short drive down the mountain.
Staying in town can be just as enjoyable, as Crestline provides access to welcoming coffee shops, lakes, trails, mom & pop shops, and restaurants. Our staff loves to carpool and head out for the next adventure almost every weekend.
Season
We do most of our hiring in the late summer for the whole school year, but accept applications and hire staff for Fall and Spring Semesters and throughout the school year. Apply today to join us wherever we are in the year.
